Q&A: Answering Your Questions About Our Organics

Below are answers to many common questions that you may have about our certified organic personal care products. If you do not find your answer here, please contact us at info@naturalpureorganics.com

Reflect Outdoor Balm sunscreen

Q. Does the Reflect Outdoor Balm contain nanoparticles?

A. No. The zinc oxide in Reflect Outdoor Balm is micronized, which yields larger particles than those created by nanotechnology. There is growing concern that nanoparticles, which are present in many sunscreens and cosmetics, may be detrimental to your health. We are proud to offer products that do not employ nanotechnology.

Traveling with Probiotics

Since the stress of travel is one of the most important times to take probiotics, it brings up a couple of questions…

Q. Is it necessary to refrigerate In-Liven as is recommended with most probiotics?

A. No, it is not necessary to refrigerate In-Liven whether opened or unopened. However, like all foods it will last the longest stored this way. If you do not use the refrigerator, store it in a dark place like the cupboard.

The bacteria in In-Liven are very hearty and can withstand temperatures of +122 F (+50 C) and -4 F (-20 C) for a week. The bacteria in one container of unrefrigerated In-Liven has been repeatedly tested over the past 10 years and found to have retained its viability! This makes it especially ideal for travel, when access to a refrigerator may be limited.

The bacteria in In-Liven are soil based and are from fruits, grains and vegetables. Other probiotics usually contain man-raised bacteria which are then multiplied in bioreactors. They are not as hearty as the soil based bacteria in In-Liven. Consequently, other probiotics usually require refrigeration.

Q. Is the radiation that the baggage is exposed to harmful to the live bacteria?

A. Testing was conducted several years ago to examine the effects of radiation exposure in customs machines on bacteria in In-Liven. The results have shown that the bacteria was unaffected — the bacteria remained alive and well.

Q. When traveling internationally, are you allowed to take In-Liven through Customs legally and is it one of the items that you need to report to Customs that you have with you?

A. We recommend declaring In-Liven as a food substance in your possession. For further information regarding it being allowed into certain countries, we suggest contacting these countries' customs departments for proper advice.

Miessence Deodorant (pronounced My Essence)

Q. I want to try the Miessence deodorant, but I'm concerned about sweating through my clothes (since it does not contain an antiperspirant). How likely is this to occur?

A. Most likely you will be detoxing — especially if you have ever used antiperspirants. We suggest allowing your body approximately two weeks to eliminate toxins. After that time, you should perspire less and your body odor should improve. In the mean time, you may want to carry Miessence deodorant with you to reapply during the day.

There is not a specific ingredient that causes detoxing. It is the absence of aluminum compounds in the products. Aluminum compounds block your pores, preventing healthy elimination of toxins via perspiration. Perspiration is what your body wants to do. Commonly used antiperspirants prevent this from happening. Consequently, you get a backlog of toxins accumulating in your body. When you start using our products, your body can then begin eliminating stored toxins, which may present as temporary rashes and irritation (and possibly temporary odor as well).

Chlorophyll containing products are great to clean out your body and lessen body odor (spirulina, barley grass, chlorella, etc.). You may want to also consider the whole food probiotic In-Liven to detox your body from the inside out.

Skin Care

Q. What is the mechanism of action of the Couperose Gel? Does it cause any vasoconstriction of the capillaries?

A. The herbs in the formula of the Couperose Gel are restoring blood flow again. The area becomes temporarily flushed with blood before it can move freely through the area. Vasoconstrictors are used clinically to increase blood pressure or to reduce local blood flow. The Couperose Gel was designed to do the opposite.
